Function & Operation

The Zener Barrier prevents the transfer of unacceptably high energy from safe areas into hazardous areas. Zener diodes in the barrier are connected in reverse direction, with the breakdown voltage not exceeded during normal operation. If voltage exceeds safe limits due to faults in the safe area, the diodes conduct and cause the fuse to blow, ensuring safety.
