The MTL7700 series Zener barriers are engineered with consistent design principles to ensure reliable safety performance in hazardous environments. Each channel incorporates secondary pulse detecting Zener or forward connecting diodes along with robust terminating resistors for comprehensive protection.

Safety Protection Mechanism

In the event of electrical faults within the safety zone, the diode system effectively limits voltage transmission to hazardous areas while the resistor provides current limiting functionality. A protective fuse safeguards the diode, and a two-stage voltage limiting system ensures continuous protection even if one stage fails. The design utilizes passive components without active output current limiting circuitry.

Certification and Compliance

Certified "ia" for all zones and "IIC" for all explosive atmospheres (except MTL7707P+ and MTL7729P+, certified "ia" "IIB").
