Function
This isolated barrier is designed for intrinsic safety applications in hazardous areas. The device supplies 2-wire SMART transmitters and can also be used with 2-wire SMART current sources. It transfers the analog input signal to the safe area as an isolated current value.
Digital signals may be superimposed on the input signal in either hazardous or safe areas and are transferred bi-directionally. Selectable output modes including current source, sink mode, or voltage output are available via DIP switches.
When HART communication resistance in the loop is insufficient, the internal 250 Ω resistance between terminals 6 and 8 can be utilized. Test sockets for connecting HART communicators are integrated into the device terminals for convenient testing and configuration.
