The FN-LB-I Surge Protection Barrier provides robust transient voltage protection for industrial field instruments in hazardous areas, ensuring reliable operation and SIL 3 safety compliance.

Function & Protection

This surge protection barrier effectively limits induced transients from various sources including lightning strikes and switching impulses. It diverts transient current to ground while maintaining signal line voltage at safe levels during surge events.

The barrier provides 85 V line-to-line and 500 V line-to-ground clamping voltage protection for connected instruments, including those with less than 500 V isolation-to-ground.

Installation is simplified through available conduit or cable gland openings commonly found on process transmitters.

Important Installation Note: Surge Protection Barriers must be connected to a solid, effective ground system and maintain the same equipotential level as the protected instrument. The ground system must comply with all applicable regulations and standards.
