Function & Operation

This surge protection barrier limits induced transients from various sources including lightning strikes and switching impulses. It diverts transient current to ground while limiting signal line voltage to safe levels during surge events.

The barrier provides 85 V line-to-line and 500 V line-to-ground clamping voltage for protected instruments, and also safeguards instruments with less than 500 V isolation-to-ground.

Installation is simple through available conduit or cable gland openings commonly found on process transmitters.

Important Installation Note: Surge Protection Barriers must always be connected to a solid, effective ground and maintain the same equipotential level as the protected instrument. The ground system must comply with all applicable regulations.
