This isolated barrier is used for intrinsic safety applications.

Each device channel works as a transmitter power supply or a current driver.

The device transfers data by using a current signal.

The device supports a bi-directional communication for SMART devices that use current modulation to transmit data and voltage modulation to receive data.

For current driver operation, an open field circuit presents a high impedance to the control side to allow lead breakage to be monitored by control systems. 

Intrinsic Safety Isolated Barriers

Intrinsic safety barriers from Pepperl+Fuchs limit the energy that is supplied to a circuit and protect hazardous areas from excess energy. By limiting energy to a safe level, intrinsically safe circuits prevent the ignition of potentially explosive atmospheres.

In addition to their explosion protection function, isolated barriers offer galvanic isolation to protect measurement and control circuits from signal distortion and dangerous surges. These interface modules also convert, standardize, and split measurement and control signals.

Product Portfolio

K-System offers an extensive range of intrinsic safety interface modules for many signals and applications - from simple isolators to highly functional modules.

Power Rail

The Power Rail is an insert in the standard 35mm DIN rail. When mounting on the DIN rail, the units are simply snapped in place. The Power Rail supplies the modules with power and provides a path for the collective error message from individual isolators. Power Rail reduces wiring and maintenance costs because it eliminates the need to daisy chain the wires. It also simplifies expansion. Just snap in a new module when you're ready to add to your system.

Power Feed Modules

The supply voltage is coupled to the Power Rail via the power feed modules. A built-in fuse provides effective group protection for the plugged-in modules. A line fault detected by the interface module is output via the potential-free contact of the power feed module.

Easy Configuration

With the powerfil software tool PACTware, project documentation is easier to create, and highly functional interface modules are easily configured.
